Ducks 3, Hershey 2

In their first game since being eliminated from contention for the American Hockey League playoffs, the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks had the Calder Cup, which goes to the AHL champion, on display Friday night at Cincinnati Gardens.
That's the only way the Cup will come to Cincinnati this season, but it seemed to rub off on the Ducks. Cincinnati, which is in last place in the Mid-Atlantic Division and brought a three-game losing streak into its game against first-place Hershey, outplayed the Bears in a 3-2 victory before 6,771.
Defenseman Jesse Wallin scored his third goal of the season to tie the game with 4:10 left in the game, and B.J. Young won it with his 24th with 1:25 remaining.
Center Bob Wren broke up the dual shutout by redirecting a power-play shot by Scott Ferguson off Hershey goalkeeper David Aebischer's left shoulder. Aebischer couldn't recover quickly enough to keep the puck from trickling over the goal line with 13:34 left in the game.
NOTE: Cincinnati signed center Mike Isherwood to a tryout contract for the remainder of the season. Isherwood, 5-foot-9 and 185 pounds, just completed his last season at Niagara University. He scored 49 points on 16 goals and 33 assists.
