        • Top brass: The Canadian Brass sounds off at 8 p.m. today in Millett Hall, Miami University. The quintet's spirited show includes a tribute to Lennon and McCartney, highlights from Carmen and music by Gabrieli and Vivaldi.         • TV picks: Cincinnati's original home shopping TV show, Channel 48's Action Auction, returns for a 33rd year with two new homes, a new Subaru, Reds tickets, wine, jewelry and tons of great buys (3 p.m.-midnight today through April 15).

        • TV Critic John Kiesewetter also says Diana Ross hosts the 31st annual NAACP Image Awards with appearances by Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Eriq LaSalle, Stephen Spielberg, Laurence Fishburne, Holly Robinson Peete, Luther Vandross, and Earth, Wind and Fire (8-10 p.m., Channels 19, 45).

        • On the go: Stridex has gone portable. Facewipes To Go can be stashed in pockets, purses, backpacks and gym bags. The wipes combine cleansing with acne medication.         • 24 hours out: The Main Library, downtown, and all branches of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County will give away spruce seedlings in honor of Earth Day, which is April 22.

        • 48 hours out: Learn more about buying and restoring historic homes 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at a class in Northern Kentucky University's Community Education program. Part of the class will take place at a restored house in Newport's Historic East Row. $29. Registration: 392-2400.
