Two more resign from Warren MRDD board
The Cincinnati Enquirer
LEBANON Two more members of the mental retardation board quit this week, bringing the total to three.
Dennis Blakeley resigned effective April 15 in a letter to Warren County commissioners, and newcomer Sonya Staffan announced her resignation at Wednesday's meeting of the board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities.
Darrell Hunt, former president of the board, quit in a letter to commissioners last week.
Commission President Pat South last month asked all sev en board members to consider stepping down because of the public outcry that arose after the agency bought two homes at tens of thousands above market value.
Superintendent Charlotte Marinacci who negotiated the purchases of the houses in Maineville and Springboro last year retired in February. She has been replaced on an interim basis by John Lazares, Warren County school superintendent.
But the commissioners say the public also is demanding a new MRDD board to help restore credibility to the agency.
