MIDDLETOWN A 27-year-old Middletown man faces drunken-driving and aggravated vehicular homicide charges after a fatal accident Monday night.
Police said Tuesday they had warrants for the arrest of Lawrence Kindred in connection with the crash that killed Christopher Turner, 29, of Madison Township.
Mr. Kindred, who is expected to appear in municipal court today, was also driving under a license that expired in August 1995, according to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
Police said Mr. Kindred smelled of alcohol and exhibited signs of intoxication but refused to take urine or blood tests after the crash.
Around 10 p.m. Monday, Mr. Kindred was driving a white 1985 Oldsmobile Royale that collided with a maroon 1991 Ford Explorer driven by Mr. Turner. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Garfield Street and First Avenue.
Mr. Kindred and a passenger in his vehicle, Gary Southall, 19, of Middletown, were treated at Middletown Regional Hospital.
Anyone who might have witnessed the crash is asked to call the investigating officer, Detective Steve Getter, at 425-7724, or police dispatch at 425-7700.
