An Over-the-Rhine father remained in jail late Friday, charged with killing his 9-month-old daughter.
Michael I. Cooper, 24, was arrested Friday morning by Cincinnati Police Division homicide investigators. They charged him with murder and took him to the Hamilton County Justice Center.
The arrest came nine days after firefighters found Mr. Cooper's daughter, Mika, in their East 13th Street apartment. She was not breathing.
The baby was pronounced dead later at Children's Hospital Medical Center after firefighters tried to revive her, police said. An autopsy revealed that she had suffered blunt trauma to her head and body.
The Hamilton County coroner's office would release no further information about the infant's injuries.
Investigators want anyone with information about the baby's death to call 352-3542 or CrimeStoppers at 352-3040.
