Winton Woods Cleanup to maintain, beautify park

BY Lew Moores
The Cincinnati Enquirer

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP — Hundreds of volunteers are expected to fan out across the 2,500 acres of Winton Woods today to pick up garbage as part of the 13th annual Winton Woods Cleanup.

In past years, volunteers have picked up about eight tons of garbage from the Hamilton County Park District park. The cleanup is a joint effort of the park district and the Forest Park Environmental Awareness Program.

“The park is so close to Forest Park and many of our residents use the park and are grateful to have the park, so we decided it would be nice to help the park maintain itself,” said Wright Gwyn, program manager for the Forest Park organization.

The cleanup is from 9 a.m. to noon today. It will be followed by a free cookout for volunteers from noon to 1 p.m., and a raffle for prizes.

Volunteers can show up at the Kestrel Point picnic area near the ranger station and Visitor Centre off Winton Road.
