Middletown OKs golf-fee increase

BY Janet C. Wetzel
The Cincinnati Enquirer

MIDDLETOWN — Teeing up at the city's municipal golf course will cost more this year, and weekend rates will go up again next year.

Commissioners accepted a staff recommendation and approved the rate increases for Weatherwax Golf Course on Tuesday.

Greens fees will raised by $2 for 18 holes, plus $1 for a cart, and half that for nine holes. Greens fees will be increased by $2 for 18 holes and $1 for nine on weekends in 2001. The 36-hole course underwent a $2 million face lift recently.

The extra revenue will go to an estimated $550,000 project to build cart paths and restrooms.

This year's greens fees will be $23 for 18 holes weekdays and weekends.

Commissioners also approved applying for a state grant to help buy 10 acres to expand city-owned Hook Field, Middletown Municipal Airport.
