Michael Proffitt, the London, Ky., man charged in the 20-year-old shooting death of a Greenhills woman in Winton Woods, speaks to attorney Sam Begley before his arraignment Tuesday in Laurel County (Ky.) Court.
Mr. Proffitt, 40, waived extradition and is expected in Hamilton County this week to face charges of aggravated murder and attempted rape. Betty Hoffmann, 55, was shot while walking her dog July 7, 1980. Police say Mr. Proffitt called Kentucky State Police this month and confessed.
I've got the extradition papers in my hand, said Laurel County Detention Center Sgt. Joe Andes. They can have him right away.
