Going to a wedding? You might find a date

By Mike Pulfer
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Unless you're the bride or groom, a wedding is a good place to find a date. Or a mate.

Take it from the experts: men and women who are looking.

In a survey of single Americans hot for companionship, respondents said weddings, along with bars and blind dates, were among the best places and approaches to finding special someones. Because the wedding season is fast approaching, and because the survey could have some validity, it might be wise to return those if-you-please cards and throw an iron on that lucky shirt or skirt.

And, if you go along with this survey, write some of these down on your cuff so you don't forget. These are some of the best and worst pick-up lines identified by the survey respondents:

        Best lines

“Can I borrow a quarter? Mom told me to call when I fell in love.”

“Can I check your tag to see if you're made in heaven?”

        “Nice shoes. Wanna have sex?”

        “You are so beautiful.”

“Are your legs tired? Because you've been running through my mind all night.”

        Worst lines

“That dress would look good on my bedroom floor.”

“I lost my phone number. Can I have yours?”

“Your father must have been an astronaut because he stole the stars and put them in your eyes.”

        “What's your sign?”

“Didn't I see you at the Oscars?”

The survey, conducted by Wild Turkey Bourbon in honor of the spring mating season of the native American wild turkey, for which the brand is named, discovered more on the human side:

Sixty percent of the survey respondents valued personality above all other traits.

Personal ads and dating services ranked low on the effectiveness scale.

Nearly half put income level at the bottom of their list of priorities, while looks ranked near the middle.
