Attacker badly wounds woman

Victim escapes after rape, slashing

By Jane Prendergast
The Cincinnati Enquirer

A critically wounded Westwood woman who had been beaten and raped escaped her attacker Thursday night, running out of an apartment and collapsing, police said.

Police found the victim on the ground on Sutter Avenue just before 11 p.m. She had escaped, investigators said, from a nearby English Woods apartment on Boltwood Court, where a man she knew beat her and cut her with a straight razor.

The woman, 46, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital. She was in critical condition late Friday.

Police arrested Alsie Davis, 38, of Fairmount and charged him with rape and felonious assault. The victim had refused his sexual advances, according to the arrest report.

Mr. Davis also faces charges of possession of an open flask, vandalism and disorderly conduct. He was verbally abusive at the scene, according to the report, even shouting at bystanders that they were looking at the next cop killer. Officers sprayed him twice with chemical irritant after he kicked out a cruiser window.

Authorities with the Cincinnati Police Division's criminal investigations section ask anyone with information about the attack to call them at 352-3542 or CrimeStoppers at 352-3040. Callers can remain anonymous.
