N.Ky. baseball roundup

Deal, Stilke help Boone County beat Highlands 4-2

The Cincinnati Enquirer

Todd Deal and Jeff Stilke delivered clutch hits and pitcher Chad Anderson went seven innings to help Boone County to a 4-2 victory over Highlands on Monday in baseball action at Highland Park in Fort Thomas.

The Rebels opened up a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning on Deal's two-run home run. They added two more in the sixth on Stilke's single.

        • Ludlow 7, Newport 3 — The sophomore duo of Joey Drysdale and Josh Waters proved to be Newport's undoing.

Tied 3-3 after five innings, Drysdale and Waters each drove in two runs with singles for the Panthers.

Junior Ryan York threw seven innings for Ludlow, holding the Wildcats to four hits.

        • Beechwood 2, Lloyd 1 — The Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to eke out the victory.

Junior Mike Nie led off with a single and scored on Matt Mercer's double to tie the game at 1-1. Pinch runner Nick Stretch scored the game winner when Phil Fairbanks hit a single to center field.

Beechwood's Chris Wera (4-0) allowed five hits.

        • Bishop Brossart 8, Ryle 6 — The Mustangs scored three runs in the sixth inning for the come-from-behind victory.

John Lloyd's one-out RBI single and Justin Seiter's two-out RBI single were the big hits for Brossart in the decisive inning.
