Passengers rate airport No. 1 in U.S.

HEBRON When it comes to passenger service and convenience, the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is tops in the nation.
That is according to an annual consumer survey by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), a trade organization that polled 60,000 international passengers (www.iata.org).
The survey ranked 57 airports in 19 categories in cluding ease of connections, comfort of waiting lounges, speed of baggage delivery and food quality.
This year, the airport was the only U.S. gateway to crack the international top 10, ranking seventh worldwide.
Last year the airport finished second in the nation behind Orlando, and ninth in the world.
The only U.S. airports to come close in the world rankings this year were Minneapolis at 14th, followed by Atlanta (15th), Seattle (17th) and Orlando (18th).
But the cream of the
globe-trotting crop were the airports in Copenhagen; Singapore; Helsinki; Vancouver; Manchester, England, and Kuala Lumpur.
Cincinnati serves more than 22 million passengers a year and offers 580 daily departures to 113 cities.
This is the second time this year the airport has been so honored. In February OAG Worldwide a supplier of travel information rated the airport one of the world's best based on pas senger surveys.
In our business, IATA and OAG are the two leading sources of customer satisfaction, said Robert Holscher, the airport's director of aviation. To be consistently ranked so highly by both organizations is very fulfilling.
Customer service is one of our top priorities, said Gary Bockelman, chairman of the Kenton County Airport Board. As a result we work very hard to maintain the highest standards of quality and service, he said.
