Suspect arrested in Laurel stabbing

        LAUREL, Ind. — A 23-year-year old Illinois man was arrested early Tuesday and charged with attempted murder for a stabbing that occurred Monday near here.

        Franklin County police charged Joe E. Pryor and placed him in the Franklin County Security Center in Brookville after he was arrested about 2 a.m. while trying to hitchhike on Ind. 121.

        The suspect is charged with the stabbing of 47-year-old Andy Riddle of Hamilton, Ohio.The victim was found lying in the roadway on Laurel Road, a half mile east of Laurel, just before 9 p.m. Monday.

        Mr. Riddle was hospitalized in stable condition Tuesday.
