Zonic Corp. reports fourth-quarter loss
Zonic Corp., the struggling developer of computerized test and measurement equipment, reported a loss and lower sales in the fourth quarter.
For the three months ended March 31, the Milford company reported a loss of $35,802 vs. a slim profit of $5,588 a year ago. Revenues slipped to $335,788 from $422,642 a year-ago.
For the fiscal year, Zonic reported net income of $34,300, or 1 cent a share, down from earnings of $128,509, or 4 cents a share, in the prior year. Revenues fell to $1.8 million from $2.1 million a year earlier.
Carson moving to new quarters
Carson Enterprises Inc., the custom Hershey candy-bar wrapping business started by owner Ed Carson, moves Monday into its new $1.5 million building off Route 4 in Fairfield.
The facility replaces three buildings used by the company in Fairfield's Town Square.
Ohio jobless rate lowest in 26 years
Ohio's unemployment rate fell to 3.8 percent in April, the lowest level since March 1974 when the rate was 3.7 percent, the state said Friday.
Jobless rates were down across southwest Ohio: Hamilton County's unemployment rate dipped to 3 percent from 3.2 percent in April, 1999. Butler County fell even further to 2.7 percent from 3.1 percent a year ago. Clermont County's rate was 3.1 percent vs. 3.3 percent a year ago and Warren County's rate was 2.6 percent vs. 2.7 percent last year.
