SDRC names Wienkoop COO

By Mike Boyer
The Cincinnati Enquirer

As part of Structural Dynamics Research Corp.'s new focus on Web-based applications for manufacturers, the Milford-based software company Monday named a new president and chief operating officer.

Glenn R. Wienkoop, 53, formerly executive vice president of Natick, Mass.-based Cognex Corp., was named to the post reporting to Bill Weyand, SDRC's chairman and CEO.

“Glenn's addition is clearly in line with our previously stated goal to further strengthen and complement our executive team,” Mr. Weyand said.

In particular, Mr. Wienkoop has expertise in acquiring new businesses. At SDRC's recent shareholders meeting, Mr. Weyand said the company, which completed three purchases in the past year, would continue to evaluate strategic acquisitions.

Mr. Wienkoop “has an enviable track record of evaluating and seamlessly integrating acquisitions, including six successful ac- quisitions in his last two companies,” Mr. Weyand said.

Earlier this year, SDRC launched its newest product, Accelis, a Web-based product in an emerging software category called collaborative product commerce, which allows global corporations to communicate and work together on new products even though their business computer systems are different.

At Cognex, a manufacturer of machine vision systems, Mr. Wienkoop headed its largest division.

Before joining Cognex in 1997, Mr. Wienkoop was an executive for Measurex Corp.

Mr. Weyand came to SDRC in 1998 from Measurex, where he was executive vice president. Mr. Wienkoop holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of West Florida.
