New road closures begin today

The Cincinnati Enquirer

A new week means a new series of Cincinnati-area road closures and detours.

Due to construction of the new Race and Elm street connections to the riverfront and plaza for Paul Brown Stadium, downtown, Pete Rose Way will be closed from Levee Way to Central Avenue today; from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday; and 6 a.m. Thursday through 3 p.m. June 20. Motorists should use Mehring Way as a detour.

        Also today:

        • A realigned Broadway will open between Third Street and Pete Rose Way, connecting Broadway to the Taylor-Southgate Bridge. This will create a four-way intersection with Pete Rose Way just east of the Firstar Center. Pete Rose Way and Mehring Way will reopen to two-way traffic, and Pete Rose Way will remain open west of the new Broadway for connections to Levee Way and the Cinergy Field parking garage.

        • Elm Street, downtown, will reopen at Third, and crews will then close Vine Street northbound off Third. The Main Street intersection at Third will reopen Wednesday before the afternoon Reds game.

        • Montgomery Road from Cornell to Weller roads in Montgomery will shut down to one lane between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. while crews resurface the road.

        In Northern Kentucky:

        • The left lane of Interstate 275 westbound will be closed from Interstate 71/75 to the Hebron exit (Ky. 237) through June 30.

        • The left lane of I-275 eastbound also is closed one mile west of the Hebron exit to I-71/75 through June 30.

        • Traffic is reduced to one lane two miles west of the Hebron exit through Wednesday.

A major closure for Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky will occur June 10, when the Interstate 471 bridge is closed so crews can set structural steel for the Third Street Viaduct, downtown. The bridge will remain closed all night June 10 and all day June 11.
