Design team taken with Tiffany's
By Owen Findsen
The Cincinnati Enquirer
This is the 46th in the series spotlighting a pig from the Big Pig Gig Public Art Project taking place in Cincinnati, Covington and Newport. Past pig profiles can be found on www.cincinnati.com
Artists: Paula Ott, Indian Hill; Denise Nordloh-Strasser, Madeira; Sally McLaine, Milford; Susan Koenig, Hyde Park.
Sponsor: Tiffany's.
This pig's pen: Vine at Fifth Street, outside Tiffany's.
You were inspired by: We submitted 10 designs to the Big Pig Gig. Tiffany's saw them and liked our designs of flowers, Ms. Ott says, so they asked us to design one based on their line of nature jewelry.
You want people to look at this pig and think: Of Tiffany's. All of the little icons on the pig are real jewelry designs you can find in the store.
Completing the project took: About two weeks.
Swine over matter: Painted in acrylics. We had it sprayed Tiffany blue and commissioned a jeweled butterfly made of iron.
Your high on the hog was: Working together. I did most of the flowers. Those others did the bugs and lizards. We all did the grass.
Pig peeve: That it was over too soon. We had a blast working together.
My favorite pork dish: Prosciutto and melon.
What artistic movement most affected the outcome of this pig? Jewelry design.
The materials cost: $650.
If your pig starred in a movie, who would you cast to play the role? Isabella Rossellini. She's a beauty and the pig's a beauty.
