Nursing home patient was raped, police say

MASON — Detectives are investigating the rape of a severely disabled 29-year-old woman at Brookside Extended Care early Sunday, police said.
According to a brief offense report, Mason police were dispatched to the nursing home at 780 Snider Road at 4:33 a.m. after Warren County Communications Center received information about a possible sexual assault.
The police report classified the incident as a rape.
It's unclear whether the attack was committed by an employee or resident, or whether someone broke into the facility for the mentally disabled, Brookside administrator Kim Miller said Monday.
Brookside is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the conviction of the rapist, Mr. Miller said. Anyone with information can call Mason Detective Don Cope at 573-3357 or 398-5050.
Police Chief Ron Ferrell declined to discuss the incident Monday, saying it remained under investigation.
