Five Seasons raises profile
TV viewers of the French Open tennis tournament last month and the current Wimbledon tournament might have noticed Australian Davis Cupper Cliff Drysdale pitching Five Seasons Country Clubs.
Mr. Drysdale has been the national spokesman for several years for Five Seasons, a unit of Corporex Cos. Inc. in Covington. Those television ads are back now that Five Seasons has kicked its expansion mode into high gear, with four units up and running, three to open in the next year and six more in various planning stages.
Modeled after Corporex's Four Seasons Sports Country Club in Crestview Hills, the tony clubs feature tennis, swimming, workout rooms and restaurants. So far, all of the units have started making money by the end of their first year, officials said.
He (Mr. Drysdale) was so excited that there was finally a country club for the non-golfer, said Kevin Molony, managing director of Five Seasons.
The clubs have different boards of governors in each market, featuring big names like former football stars Bo Jackson and Anthony Munoz and hockey great Stan Mikita.
Clubs in Indianapolis, Cleveland and Dayton already are opened, and one in Symmes Township should open early next year, along with two in the Chicago area, Mr. Molony said. Cliff Peale
