Antiques grace MainStrasse

Local collectors come to Covington to buy, browse

COVINGTON — Collectors and the curious took advantage of a perfect summer day on Sunday to shop the antiques marketplace in MainStrasse Village.

The event, every second Sunday from April to August, is put on by the MainStrasse Village Association.

Donna Kremer, who helped organize the antiques marketplace, said it's still considered a newcomer in the Sunday antiques show circuit after five years.

“You can walk the three islands and find all kinds of things: furniture, collectible toys, primitive art,” Ms. Kremer said. “It's all there.”

Pat Lansaw, an antiques dealer from Middletown, said she comes almost every month.

“A lot of people don't know about it,” she said, unlike other shows in Burlington and Lawrenceburg. “This is a growing show and there are a lot of nice dealers.”

With more than 40 vendors and hundreds of patrons, organizers say they hope to expand.

Cheryl Becker of Fort Mitchell and Anita Cotton of Villa Hills found a few things they liked.

“I'm a collector of collectibles,” Ms. Becker said, holding up an old sewing table with the yardstick already marked on it.
