Artists: Amy Corbin, 29, Mount Washington, and her brother Matt Corbin, 18, Delhi.
Sponsor: The HoneyBaked Ham Co. of Ohio.
This pig's pen: Fountain Square.
You were inspired by: We wanted to create a mosaic pig using recycled materials.
What's the pig idea? The patriotic pig is covered with a mosaic of stars and stripes.
Completing the project took: About a month.
What's the matter?: We used broken china and discontinued commercial tiles.
Pig peeve: Cutting our hands on the broken ceramic pieces.
Best pig tale: We had the undivided attention of our own little "piglets.' The same week we found out that we were doing a pig, my twins, Emma and Nick, were born. Matt and I did as much work as possible during nap time, Amy Corbin says. While they were awake, the twins spent the first days of their lives watching the pigs.
My favorite pork dish: Grandma Corbin's City Chicken.
What artistic movement most affected the outcome of this pig? Mosaics. I had just finished taking courses on mosaic design at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. Matt was excited to learn the technique.
The materials cost: Because the ceramics were contributed, we spent $100 on adhesive.
Do you consider this art or porkography? Art. We are especially influenced by the paintings of Francis Bacon.
If your pig starred in a movie (or an opera), who would you cast to play the role? Evel Knievel. Our pig looks like he's wearing one of Evel's jumpsuits.
This is 72nd in a series spotlighting pigs from the Big Pig Gig Public Art Project taking place in Cincinnati, Covington and Newport. Find past pig profiles at enquirer.com. Click on the Big Pig Gig icon.
