Mall owner buying other properties




        The parent of Forest Fair Mall, in a bid to expand its retail portfolio, has acquired eight retail properties from its Columbus-based leasing agent, including one in Newport.

        Gator Investments of Miami paid $26.5 million for the properties, which includes the Kmart Center in Newport. James Goldsmith, Gator president, said the firm is negotiating for several oth er real estate locations in the Greater Cincinnati market.

        “This is just one of the acquisitions that we're looking for in the Northern Kentucky-Cincinnati market area as we expand our position in key U.S. cities,” he said.

        Mr. Goldsmith estimated that the Newport property sold for $4.4 million. — Lisa Biank Fasig
