HAMILTON — The city's SWAT team raided a South Monument residence Wednesday and arrested a man in connection with the shooting death of Donald Lee Downard.

Hamilton police said Louis R. Patterson, 25, was arrested at a house in the 500 block.

Mr. Downard died Sunday in the 1100 block of Beckett Street from a gunshot wound to the head.

Police said Mr. Patterson was arrested without incident and has been charged with murder and felonious assault.

Mr. Patterson is scheduled to appear in Hamilton Municipal Court today. He was released last year after serving five years in prison for shooting a man in both legs with a 12-gauge shotgun.
