College Hill man charged after chase
A College Hill man was charged with kidnapping, aggravated robbery and fleeing and eluding after a 20-minute police chase Saturday, Springdale police said.
Police attempted to stop Randy Blake, 35, of the 1700 block of Cedar Avenue, at 8 p.m. Saturday after he allegedly ran a red light on Ohio 4 in Springdale.
Mr. Blake fled, and was slowed in Fairfield when police there put down stop sticks,' according to his arrest report. With the tires gone, he rode on the wheels for several miles, and was apprehended after he crashed the car into a tree on Rialto Road, police said.
Mr. Blake allegedly tricked the car's owner into giving him a ride in Glendale, then threatened him with a gun and forced him out, police said.
They said he then fled in the man's Honda Civic, leading to the chase.
Plane lands after complaint of illness
A Delta Air Lines flight was diverted to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport on Sunday morning after a passenger complained she was ill.
The woman, whose name was not released, was not charged, but she was not allowed to reboard the plane.
Flight 1989 from Boston to Los Angeles landed at 10:34 a.m. Airport police were called in to assist the woman off the plane, airport spokesman Ted Bushelman said.
Delta spokesman Dan Lewis said the passenger left her coach seat, took a seat in the business section, and told the cabin crew she was ill.
The captain landed at Cincinnati to obtain help for her.
The captain asked that she be removed from the airplane. She caused a bit of a disturbance on board and in the jetway, Mr. Lewis said.
The disturbance did not involve physical threats or violence. The woman was treated by paramedics at the airport. Her condition was not immediately available.
The plane resumed its flight after a 21-minute delay.

Mary Candler, of the 3500 block of Alaska Street, was arrested at home at 8:47 p.m. Saturday, 47 minutes after the assault.

Lost jewelry bag found in garage
COLUMBUS A lost jewelry shipment worth hundreds of thousands of dollars was found early Sunday at a downtown mall's parking garage.
Police got a 3 a.m. call from security guards about a bag padlocked to a fence at City Center, said Sgt. Earl Smith.
The city's bomb squad was called in, but instead of an explosive the bag contained diamonds that the U.S. Postal Service was supposed to have delivered to a mall jeweler, police said. The postal service made a delivery error earlier in the week and did not know where the diamonds were sent.
Sgt. Smith said he thinks whoever inadvertently received the diamonds must have decided to get rid of them.
Couple marry after one church bans it
WAVERLY, Ohio More than a week after an Ohio minister banned an interracial couple from marrying in his church, the bride's brother married the two in another church.
The only thing we wanted, after all that's happened, is for the wedding to go off, the Rev. Gene Bumgardner said of the ceremony he performed Saturday for his sister, Chastity, and Lawrence Henry.
Things were a little late and I was really nervous, but we're happy. The people here have been wonderful, the Rev. Mr. Bumgardner told the Columbus Dispatch for a Sunday story. His sister's wedding was the first he has presided over since his ordination as a pastor.
Only 11 days before the wedding scheduled for Pleasant Valley Community Church in Jasper, the Rev. Donald Ellis told Chastity Bumgardner, who is white, and Mr. Henry, who is black, that he would not let an interracial couple marry in his church.
The wedding was held instead at the New Covenant Church of Christ in Christian Union.
Woman charged in crash seeks bond
MARTINSVILLE, Ind. An Indianapolis woman accused of driving the wrong way on an Indiana highway and causing a crash that killed seven people will ask a judge to let her go home from jail this week.
Judy Kirby's lawyer on Tuesday will ask a Morgan Superior Court judge to set bond for Ms. Kirby, who faces seven counts of murder, four counts of neglect of a dependent and one count of aggravated battery in the March 25 crash.
Police say Ms. Kirby deliberately drove north in a southbound lane of Ind. 67 and crashed her car into an oncoming van. Her lawyer has said she plans to argue that Ms. Kirby was suffering from a mental illness or defect at the time.
Of the seven people who were killed, six were children, four of whom were Ms. Kirby's own.
Defense lawyer Jennifer Auger told the judge that it is impossible for Ms. Kirby to receive a fair trial in the area, because of the notoriety of the case. Ms. Kirby's trial has been scheduled for Aug. 23.
