Interstate 75 wreck sends van driver to hospital

The Cincinnati Enquirer

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP — A Cincinnati man was seriously hurt Wednesday morning when his van crashed into a parked tractor-trailer along Interstate 75.

Steve Sexton, 32, was driving a van northbound on I-75 around 10:30 a.m. Wit nesses told investigators the van suddenly crossed three lanes of traffic, said Sgt. Rick Blyberg of the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Hamilton Post. The van went into a rest stop off the right side of the road and struck the truck, which was parked well off the highway, Sgt. Blyberg said.

Mr. Sexton was taken by medical helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, where he was listed in serious condition Wednesday.

The driver of the truck, Melvin Young, 57, of Ontario, Canada, was asleep inside the truck at the time it was struck. He was uninjured.

Sgt. Blyberg said it was unclear why Mr. Sexton went off the roadway and said it is possible he suffered a seizure or some other medical problem.

The accident remains under investigation, and as of Wednesday afternoon, no citations had been issued.
