Get to it

A guide to help make your day

Going Out

Showboat's in: They meet. They fall in love. Ooops, they're married to other people, so they get together one weekend each year for 20 years. Same Time, Next Year, the bittersweet romantic comedy about being faithfully unfaithful opens 8 p.m. tonight, Showboat Majestic, Public Landing. 241-6550.

Reds: Final game of Atlanta series, 7:35 p.m. today 9 at Cinergy Field. $5-$21. 421-7337.

Creative writing: Workshop 7 p.m. today, Barnes and Noble Florence, Mall Road, with Judy Taylor, Northern Kentucky University professor. (859) 647-6400.

Staying In

TV picks: Being teen-agers on tour with a rock band isn't as cool as it sounds, when the band members are your parents doing a reunion tour of their popular 1980s rock group. That's the premise of MTV's first one-hour drama, Live Through This (10 p.m., MTV).

        • TV Critic John Kiesewetter also says Survivor will be down to five castaways after today (8 p.m., Channels 12, 7).

Web site of the day: Set your joysticks on stun, then point your browser to www.planetquake.com/, which describes itself as “The Epicenter Of Everything Quake.” That's no kidding; gamers could get lost for hours in the content on this graphic-heavy site.

The Goods: (What's in stores today)

Disc picks: Rap masters De La Soul return with Art Official Intelligence (Tommy Boy; $18.98 CD, $12.98 cassette) commanding an “A” list of guests that include the Beastie Boys, Busta Rhymes and Redman.

        • Stolen Roses: Songs of the Grateful Dead (Grateful Dead/Arista; $17.98 CD only) collects Dead songs recorded by Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Elvis Costello and others.

        • Jamaican dance hall superstar Shaggy returns with Hot Shot (MCA; $17.98 CD and $11.98 cassette).

        • Bloomington, Ind., singer/songwriter Carrie Newcomer is guardedly optimistic on her new Age of Possibility (Philo; $16.98 CD only).

        • To find the greasy, hot-wired heart of first-generation rock, says Enquirer pop music critic Larry Nager, look no further than two new rockabilly compilations, Whistle Bait and Ain't I'm a Dog (both Columbia/Legacy; $16.98 CD only), featuring hiccuping hits from the likes of Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Joe Maphis, the Collins Kids, Little Jimmy Dickens and the legendary Wurly Fairburn. .
