Promotions & new on the job

        • Marvin Blade has been named central area manager of The Cincinnati Gas & Electric Co., a subsidiary of Cinergy Corp. Mr. Blade will be responsible for account management and local customer service operations with Hamilton County service territory.

        • Kelly Vickers has joined Strata-G Communications as senior advertising account manager, and Bryan E. Wright has joined the company as public relations account manager.

        • John J. Larkin Jr., orthopaedic surgeon, has joined Riverhills Healthcare Inc. Dr. Larkin received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky Medical School. He completed a pathology fellowship at UK, and a general surgery internship and a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Yale University, and completed a one-year fellowship in sports medicine with Cincinnati Sportsmedicine, Midwest Institute for Orthopaedics.

        • Melanie Fairchild has been named associate account executive at Libby Perszyk Kathman; Erin Helmer has joined the company as associate account executive; and Elizabeth Hawkins, account coordinator.

        • Rusty Sparling has returned to R.A. Jones & Co. Inc. as director of the pharmaceutical and personal products industry. Mr. Sparling will be responsible for worldwide sales and support of packaging machinery and systems to over-the-counter and prescription drugs, feminine care products, cosmetics and other personal products industries. He was industry manager. In addition to his previous experience at Jones, he was employed by Blueprint Automation and Hartness International.

        • Judith Diekmeyer has been appointed principal of the Middle School at Yavneh Day School. Mrs. Diekmeyer taught in the Princeton school district for seven years. For the past 20 years she has been with Cincinnati Hebrew Day School as a teacher, interim principal, and for the past six years, as assistant principal.

        • Lisa Hines has been named director at Arden Courts, a new Alzheimer's assisted living facility.

        Ms. Hines will be responsible for operations, training and development of 25 staff members, and providing family support social work services. She was with Manor Care-Woodside.

        • Kent Bruggeman, regional vice president, Winegardner Hammons Inc. has been named president of the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

        • David Decker has joined Cincom Systems Inc. as director of its iC Solutions business unit.

        • Niclas Stridsberg has joined Jackson, Rolfes, Spurgeon & Co., accounting firm, as staff accountant.

        • Craig R. Martahus, partner in Thompson Hine & Flory LLP, has been named to the executive committee.

        • Jamie McAlpin has joined Huff Realty as sales associate, Fort Mitchell office.

        • Julie Lewis Phillippi has launched her own public relations and marketing consulting business, Julie Phillippi Communications. Ms. Phillippi was director of tourism for the Greater Cincinnati Convention and Visitors Bureau, community affairs director for WLWT-TV and marketing development director for WKRC-TV. Her clients include local and regional corporations in the areas of business training and development, film/video production and tourism.

        • John McMahan has joined Hyster MidEast as human resources manager; Steve Platt, regional product care sales manager in the southern region; and Mike Cody, regional equipment sales manager for the southern region.

        • Kevin V.G. Bevan has been appointed vice president and general manager for U.S. activities of Cincinnati Machine's Value Machine Business. Mr. Bevan will be responsible for sales, marketing, product management, and service activities for this new Cincinnati Machine business unit. He was Cincinnati Machine's general manager for Standard Products Business and has been with the company since 1986.

        • Richard Masartis has joined Monarch Marking Systems Inc. as senior director of marketing for the Identification and Pricing Solutions business unit. Mr. Masartis will manage the strategic development and day-to-day IPS marketing initiatives, sales training and support as well as product development and promotion.

        • Bill Biddinger has been named vice president of finance at Jack Guttman Inc. dba Bakery Crafts.

        • Marc Steiger has been named vice president of DLP Technologies. Previously, Mr. Steiger spent more than 10 years at various professional service and manufacturing companies. He was owner and independent financial planner for his firm, Steiger Financial Group.

        • JoAnn Glenn has been appointed sales training coordinator at Evolv, providers of the Skipjack Internet payment gateway; and Jamieson Fuller appointed financial services leader.

        • Jeffery J. Menz has joined Synchrony Communications, provider of electronic customer relationship management (eCRM) solutions, as executive vice president of marketing. Mr. Menz was executive director of product marketing and management at Informix.

        • Dr. Philip Walson has joined Children's Hospital Medical Center of Cincinnati as director of the new Office of Clinical Trials.

        • Mark A. Deddens has joined as regional sales manager for the Greater Cincinnati and Columbus markets.

        • Peggy Gleason has joined Comey & Shepherd Realtors, Hyde Park office as an associate specializing in residential sales.

        • Josh DeWitt has joined E@sy Interactive Inc. as direc tor of sales and marketing.

        • John Soller has been appointed vice president, engineering for Blue Chip Broadcasting.

        • Barbara Bergman has joined Photonics Graphics as director of software development. Ms. Bergman's first project will be expanding OPTimum software, a family of innovative CD-ROMs that help students prepare for state proficiency tests, into Illinois and New Jersey. She has 20 years of classroom experience at McNicholas High School and St. Mary's grade school.

        • The following have joined CDS Associates Inc.: Kathleen A. Bollmer has joined the civil group as a graduate engineer in the site section; Michael W. Carpenter, joined the general engineering group as technician in the structural section; and Tracy J. Wilborn joined the general engineering group as technician in the traffic section.

        • Vicki C. Anderson has joined Million Air, a fixed-based operator at Lunken Airport, as corporate controller.

        • Don W. Armstrong has joined Sharkbytes Inc., provider of Internet and e-commerce solutions, as project manager. Mr. Armstrong will manage Web development projects and help further refine Sharkbytes' internal processes and project management procedures. He was manager, Enterprise Wide Learning Technologies for RWD Technologies Inc.

        • Michael Brennan has joined Forte Industries as installation supervisor and Eric Schmidt, maintenance technician.

        • Michael Neises has joined Directions Research Inc. as vice president of consulting and analytical services; Amy Brenner, executive trainee; and Carley Metsker, executive trainee.

        • Keven Chaney has been named regional vice president at Ris Paper.

        • Karin K. Langner has joined Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky as public impact director, and Patricia S. Brooke as development associate in the areas of special events and fund raising.

        • Ralph Scherer has joined Foster & Motley Inc. as portfolio manager.

               • Richard D. Robertson Jr., a Prudential Insurance Co. of America agent in Cincinnati, has been named Million Dollar Round Table 2000-2001 divisional vice president of the Program General Arrangements Committee. Mr. Robertson is a 12-year member of the Round Table.

Awards & honors

               • The Cincinnati office of international Internet software development company, G.A. Sullivan has been named the Microsoft Certified Solution Provider Partner of the Year for the Great Lakes District, covering the states of Michigan, Ohio and Kentucky.

        • Cheryl Hill, a program manager for China at GE Aircraft Engines, and volunteer of six years for the FreeStore/Foodbank, has been honored by GEAE for her community service. Ms. Hill is donating the $1000 award back to the FreeStore for the organization's new school uniform program.

        • The National Ski Areas Association presented its award for Best Public Relations or Community Relations Campaign (100,000-250,000 skier visits) to Perfect North Slopes in Lawrenceburg for its 20th anniversary campaign. The campaign materials were created by local ad agency Bridge Integrated Communications.
