In '99: 6-6 (4-4 SEC), lost to Syracuse in Music City Bowl
Coach: Hal Mumme
(third year, 18-17)
Starters returning: 14
Starters lost: 8
Offense: Multiple
Defense: 4-3
Opponents fear this: While ousted QB Dusty Bonner was productive, he didn't have new QB Jared Lorenzen's big-play capability. RB Derek Homer could lead the Wildcats in both rushing and receiving.
Opponents love this: Lorenzen hasn't played a game that mattered since Dec.5, 1998, when he led Highlands to a 56-7 win over Louisville Waggener in the Kentucky AAA title game. And since Bonner transferred, UK's other QBs are as green as Lorenzen.
Circle this date: Sept.23 at Florida. SEC opener on the road. Welcome to The Swamp, kid.
