Boy, 12, facing sex trial
Accused of attack on a 5-year-old

The Cincinnati Enquirer
COVINGTON An October trial is scheduled for a 12-year-old boy accused of tying a 5-year-old boy to a tree and sexually assaulting him.
Kenton County Juvenile Court will hold the closed hearing next month.
The Cincinnati Enquirer is not identifying the attacker because he is a juvenile.
The older boy is accused of tying the child to a tree, face against the bark, before assaulting him Sept. 2 on Covington's south side, Covington police Lt. Col. Bill Dorsey said.
The 5-year-old was treated for injuries and released to his parents, who live in the area where the alleged assault occurred, he said.
Lt. Col. Dorsey did not have any further information Sunday about the assailant, and said he was limited in what he could say about the case at all because of commonwealth rules governing juvenile cases.
However, he confirmed the older boy is in custody and youngsters are held in the Campbell Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Newport.
This is not the first case of its kind in recent years, Lt. Col. Dorsey said.
A similar charge was brought against a 12-year-old in Campbell County and the victim, again, was 5.
