The Cincinnati Enquirer
Two men one a father of two young children, the other on the cusp of adulthood were shot to death in unrelated incidents in Greater Cincinnati over the weekend.
In the first, Craig A. Bertram, 29, of Covington was shot outside a Lexington Avenue home in Newport on Saturday, said Newport police Lt. Phil Liles.
He died a short time later, police said.
Mr. Bertram and his wife, Melanie, 27, had two children, said his mother, Cathy Bertram.
He was a sheet metal worker in Lincoln Heights for two years and he enjoyed sports, Ms. Bertram said.
But her son's kids C.J., 4, and Mason, 2 were the main thing, she said.
He was a good daddy, Mrs. Bertram said. A lot of men wouldn't want to change diapers, but he wasn't like that.
Newport police had made no arrest Sunday and said they had no further details to release.
On the other side of the river, Cincinnati police are investigating the shooting death of a teen-ager in Roselawn.
The youth was found dead in a hallway at 1630 Crest Hill Ave. about 3 a.m. Sunday, according to homicide Sgt. Thomas R. Lanter.
His name was being withheld late Sunday pending notification of relatives.
Police said he was about 17 to 19 years old.
Police are treating the case as a homicide.
