Teen-ager died driving too fast
2 Amelia residents killed in 2nd crash

A young man driving too fast and a senior citizen who apparently failed to yield the right-of-way died on Ohio 125 in separate weekend crashes.
Sunday, the Ohio State Highway Patrol identified the 17-year-old who died early Saturday as Marty W. Howser II of Georgetown.
Mr. Howser was coming out of an eastbound turn near Russell ville well in excess of the 55 mph limit about 1 a.m. Saturday, according to Sgt. D.D. Patterson. His Dodge Daytona went left of center, then struck an oncoming station wagon and a utility pole.
The teen was ejected and died of massive internal injuries about an hour later.
He was just traveling way too fast, Sgt. Patterson said from the Georgetown Post.
Station-wagon driver George T. Fecke, 39, and his wife Sandra K. Fecke, 51, both of Lynx, Ohio, were taken to Brown County Hospital. His minor injuries were treated and he was released; she was transferred in critical condi tion to Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati.
That stretch of Ohio 125 has no history of traffic problems, unlike the one where driver James E. Orick, 88, and passenger Elizabeth Harness, 75, died Saturday. It's a T-junction about two miles east of Amelia, where northbound Lindale Mount Holly Road ends at Ohio 125.
Mr. Orick turned left in his Mercury Topaz and was hit by Valerie J. Rohrich's eastbound Ford Mustang, said Ohio Highway Patrol Sgt. Kevin Long at the Batavia Post.
Ms. Rohrich, 43, of Worland, Wyo., was wearing a seat belt and was treated for minor injuries and released by Mercy Hospital Clermont.
Mr. Orick and Ms. Harness, both Amelia residents, were not wearing seat belts, police said.
Sgt. Long said frequent crashes occur at that intersection because westbound Ohio 125 drivers fail to yield when they try to turn left onto Lindale Mount Holly Road, which apparently was what happened with Mr. Orick.
The sergeant said another common cause of accidents is inattentive westbound Ohio 125 drivers rear-ending others waiting to turn left onto Lindale Mount Holly Road in the 55 mph zone.
