Attempted murder indictment issued

        BATAVIA — A Clermont County man has been indicted on attempted aggravated murder charges, stemming from an incident in which someone tried to set his estranged wife's home on fire, the county prosecutor's office said Thursday.

        Jeremy Martin, 26, of Ohio Township is accused of burglarizing his estranged wife Jacinda Martin's home in the Hilltop Estates mobile home park in Ohio Township last week. Police said combustible oil was poured over furniture and the bed in which she was sleeping.

        The attempt was foiled when an 11-month-old boy started crying, which woke up Mrs. Martin and prompted the intruder to flee, police said.

        There were five people in the home, assistant prosecutor Daniel “Woody” Breyer said, and Mr. Martin is charged with attempted murder for each one.
