Promotions & new on the job

        • Francine Miltenberger has been named executive vice president of PNC Bank. Ms. Miltenberger is the division executive responsible for all aspects of PNC Bank's treasury management business and its operations. She joined PNC in 1997 from Chase Manhattan Bank. She has an undergraduate degree from Wellesley College and a master's degree in business administration from the Harvard Business School.

        • Rick Purcell has joined Deskey Associates Inc. as senior account executive.

        • Jerry Kelsheimer has been named senior vice president, portfolio manager team leader, at Huntington National Bank; Ronald Melchi, vice president, business banking market manager/southwest region; Mark T. Reitzes, senior vice president, commercial banking team leader; Shelly Rizzo, assistant vice president, portfolio manager; and Christ Shimala, vice president, senior portfolio manager.

        • Shawn M. Tourville has joined Dinsmore & Shohl LLP as associate attorney practicing in the corporate department. Mr. Tourville graduated from the University of Toledo College of Law and from the State University of New York at Brockport with a bachelor's degree in mathematics.

        • Chris Boyers has joined BHDP Architecture as new intern architect for the corporate team.

        • David Durr has been named senior franchise consultant at Handyman Connection; Illean Durkin has joined the company as franchise consultant; and Elmer Shelley, location manager.

        • Larry Fish has been named vice president, manager of employee benefits, for Firstar trust, and Michael Hamway, vice president, compliance manager.

        • Al Eastman has been named director of sales for the Crowne Plaza in Cincinnati. Mr. Eastman was director of marketing for the Regal Cincinnati Hotel.

        • Paul Stegeman has been appointed director of implementation at, developer and marketer of technology. Mr. Stegeman will direct integration projects and manage third-party services. He was senior business consultant with Leahy Consulting. He also was director of technical services for Neo Media Technologies, and international new business development manager for Convergys. He has a bachelor's degree in operations management from Northern Kentucky University.

        • Patrick J. Ward has been appointed manager, Foundation & Endowment Services, Fifth Third Bank, financial partner of more than 250 nonprofits throughout the country. Mr. Ward comes to Fifth Third from Bethesda Foundation Inc., where he was president. He holds a master's degree in English literature from the University of Detroit and a bachelor's in English/philosophy from Mount St. Mary's College.

        • Peggy Wallace has been named assistant manager of Sibcy Cline Realtors, Lakota Beckett office, and the following have joined Sibcy Cline as specialized real estate sales associates: Barbara Teague, Lakota Beckett; Lucy M. Lieske, Eastgate; and Brook Pritchard, Hyde Park.

        • Michael D. Smith has joined Eco Engineering as energy consultant for the Tristate market.

        • Gerard J. Brinkman has joined NS Group Inc. as corporate controller.

        • John Klancher has been named operations director at Observatory Group, a local branding firm.

        • James D. Hassenbein has been appointed vice president at Gem Real Estate Group Inc.; and Patricia VanZandt, director of marketing.

        • Tim Smullen has joined Jackson, Rolfes, Spurgeon & Co., an accounting and consulting firm, as staff accountant. Mr. Smullen graduated from the University of Cincinnati in June with a bachelor's degree in business administration with a focus in accounting. He will be returning to the university in the fall to begin work on a master's degree in taxation. He has worked for Great American Insurance Co. and American Financial Corp.

        • Gerald L. Baldwin, partner at Frost & Jacobs LLP, has been appointed chairman for the Ohio State Bar Association's Banking, Commercial and Bankruptcy Law Committee. Mr. Baldwin practices in the area of commercial litigation, financing and bankruptcy. He received his law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and his undergraduate degree from Thomas More College.

        • Rebecca Thornton Mannarino has been named vice president at Fifth Third Bank. Ms. Mannarino joined Fifth Third in 1999. She has a master's degree from Indiana University and a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame.

        • Barry Cummins has joined Empower MediaMarketing (EM2) in Cincinnati as vice president for the media and marketing firm's In.Compass Internet group. Mr. Cummins was vice president/general manager at TMP Worldwide, Cincinnati office.

        • R. Andrew Rosselot has joined Diversified Investment Advisors, a national investment advisory firm specializing in retire ment plans, as vice president, sales, in the Cincinnati regional office.

        • Lisa Lanier has been named chief operating officer for Ipsos-ASI Inc. Ms. Lanier is responsible for U.S. operations, human resources and information systems, as well as global marketing and communications for Ipsos-ASI, the advertising research company. She has been with the company for two years and was previously with Market Facts and NFO, where she was involved in client service and new product development.

        • Terrie Zajo has been named vice president of resale at Paramount's Kings Island.

        • Douglas Hillen has joined Triple-I Systems Inc., a provider of Internet consulting solutions, as vice president, sales and marketing.

        • Melissa A. Lemmon has joined MedPlus Inc. as director of marketing.

        • Paula Walker has been named director of parts sales for the ATM Exchange, provider of refurbished ATMs.

        • Linda K. Pilon has been named partner in training at Kamphaus, Henning & Hood, Certified Public Accountants.

        • Rick Kaiser and Jim Backus have been appointed national distributor managers for Cincinnati Machine's new value machine business, a business unit designed to serve small job shops.

        • Missy Rafie has been named senior designer at Libby Perszyk Kathman; Kim Roberts has joined the company as design delineator; and P.J. Mason as designer.

        • Carolyn Bowles has joined Northlich as copywriter, and Chris Dye and Michelle Hebenstreit as art directors for the cre ative department.

        • Rod Lister has been named general manager at Richards/OPW Fueling Components, a Dover Resources Co. Mr. Lister has been with OPW for seven years and has experience in manufacturing, sales and product management. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in industrial management.

        • Chris W. Breving has joined Powernet Global Communications, provider of voice, data and Internet solutions, as regional account manager, enterprise solutions group. Mr. Breving will be responsible for delivering turnkey solutions that encompass voice, video and data communication technologies to major accounts. He has more than 10 years of sales and applications engineering experience.

        • Jackie Zurlinden has joined Cincinnati Association for the Blind as a licensed social worker. Ms. Zurlinden helps people to identify their specific needs and creates an individual service plan. She also provides counseling and information and assists with local support groups for people who have vision loss. She received her bachelor's degree in social work from the University of Cincinnati. She has worked at the Sycamore Senior Center as well as the Loveland Health Care Center. For the last eight years, she worked for Hospice of Cincinnati.

        • Vanessa Abbott has been named operations manager at Primrose School of Symmes, a private preschool and educational child-care center; and Sonja Brown, school director.

        Stephanie Getz has joined Richards Group Inc., a marketing communications and design firm, as account executive.

Awards & honors

               • Flottman Co. Inc., commercial and pharmaceutical industry printer, has been selected as a finalist in the first Tristate Family Business of the Year competition held by the University of Cincinnati's Goering Center for Family & Private Business.

        • The Boy Scout Reservation in Clermont County has received an Honor Award from the Ohio Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.

New businesses

               • Town and Country Golf Center, a driving range, has opened in Wilder, open year-round.


               • Howard B. Rottinghaus, certified financial planner with American Express Financial Advisors, has relocated to 8952 Winton Road, Finneytown.
