Top area golfers vie in Southern Ohio PGA Open
By Jack Murray
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Reigning Met champ Jim Herman and former Ohio Women's Amateur champ Julie Palmer will make their pro debuts in today's 36-hole Huntington Bank-Southern Ohio PGA Open at the Heritage Club and Four Bridges Country Club in Mason.
Also in the field of 156 are former two-time Met champion Kyle Voska and former Reds Chris Sabo.
The concept of the inaugural $20,000 SOPGA Open was to bring together the best professionals and amateurs from Dayton, Columbus and Cincinnati to determine who the best resident golfer is in this part of the state.
Herman also won inaugural Fifth Third Pro-Am Classic as an amateur.
The SOPGA field includes Bob Sowards, Matt Ehlinger, Tim Krapfel, Sean English and Stacey Burnett.
