Kroger staff to vote on contract
The Kroger Co. and thousands of its union workers in Columbus reached a settlement early Friday, averting a threatened strike.
United Food and Commercial Workers will recommend the proposal to members Sunday, when employees will vote on the agreement. Local 1059 represents 12,000 workers in 77 Kroger stores and one warehouse in central and southeast Ohio.
Lottery.com expands contract
Lottery.com Inc., the Cincinnati Internet company that provides lottery information and games, has expanded its deal with a unit of Oracle Corp, it said this week.
The OracleMobile division will now offer personalized messages on state lotteries, electronic alerts when lotteries reach a certain level, past lottery results and other services.
Argosy stake is for sale
A Lawrenceburg investment group intends to sell its 13.5 percent interest in the Argosy Casino there, and Argosy's parent company said it would try to buy that stake, Argosy Gaming Co. said Thursday.
The stake is held by Centaur Inc. Alton, Ill.-based Argosy also is negotiating to buy the other 29 percent minority interest being sold by Indianapolis insurance giant Conseco Inc.
Notary bonds sold online
Great American Insurance Co. has developed an Internet site to allow notaries to buy notary bonds online in four states, the Cincinnati-based company said this week.
The site is at www.electronicsurety.com. The unit of American Financial Group Inc. offers errors and omissions insurance in connection with the bond. Great American plans to expand the service to other states.
Allconnect in this market
Allconnect, an Atlanta-based company that offers a free service to help customers select and order home utility and communications services, is launching its service in Cincinnati with Cincinnati Bell Telephone.
Through its Web site, www.allconnect.com, and customer service representatives, Allconnect will help customers obtain Cincinnati Bell local and long-distance telephone service, Internet access and wireless service.
