Warren to pull plug faster on delinquent water bills
The Cincinnati Enquirer
LEBANON Residents who get their water from Warren County soon will receive only one overdue payment notice instead of two before they're disconnected, county commissioners decided Tuesday.
Now, the first overdue notice, mailed two days after payment is due, tacks on a 10 percent late penalty, county officials said. Another notice, warning residents their water will be turned off in 24 hours if payment is not received, is hand-delivered.
That personal service has cost 32 hours of employees' time so far in September, Sanitary Engineer Dick Renneker said, and it seems to hurt more than it helps.
People are claiming we're embarrassing them because we're hand-delivering (notices), Mr. Renneker said.
Commissioners agreed the county should start putting the shutoff date on the first overdue bill and stop the hand-delivery.
