ONLINE EXTRA

Welcome to the centerfold Games

map
SYDNEY -- Online Man loves the Web. He sweats for 'Net. Of course he does. He's on there. Every other day or so, whenever he feels he has something vital to contribute. Such as now.

www.tatiana.com.au. The Man will say that again: Tatiana.com.au. Log on. Leer in. It's the site for Tatiana Grigorieva, the most fabulous looking pole vaulter in the history of the world.

She's the Aussie woman who won the silver medal here. I don't know if they showed the women's pole vault on NBC. If they didn't, I pity you. For whatever reason, the lady pole-sters were, to a woman, off-the-chart great looking.

(And yes, of course, absolutely wonderful athletes. Otherwise, they wouldn't have been here. And, man, would that have been a shame.)

But in a stellar field, our Tatiana raised the bar.

For the sake of good, descriptive journalism, we will say that Grigorieva is possessed of blonde hair, long legs and a face made for the cover of Cosmo and Sports Illustrated. She came to Australia from Russia three years ago, with her (sigh) husband Viktor Chistiakov.

She took up pole-vaulting in 1997. Now, she's going to be rich. Her agent told the Sydney Morning Herald, “If you combine her competition, endorsements and modeling work, she could earn between $500,000 and $1 million a year.”

On her website -- that's www.tatiana.com.au -- you get pictures of her modeling, recipes, pictures of her modeling, her training schedule and -- did we mention? -- pictures of her modeling.

Derryn Hinch, the Aussie internet mogul who runs Tatiana's site, said, “She's got the sexiest bum in Australia.” He wasn't talking about her husband.

Is it just The Man, or does it seem as if these Games have been a treat for the eye, a real retinal Hershey Bar? From Tatiana to beach volleyball to Jenny Thompson to The Matildas, it's hard to imagine why TV ratings are down. No wonder NBC won't show boxing or wrestling.

(The Matildas are on the Net as well - www.matildas.org.au. They're the Aussie women's soccer team. They have a calendar you can buy. That's all The Man is going to say about that.)

The Man would like to write more. But he's hearing Tatiana's site has just been updated.

        World Wide Wow.
