Randall Rubenstein and Rob Nicholl came to the rescue for the Seven Hills boys soccer team.
With the Stingers trailing defending Division II state champion Summit Country Day 1-0 in the second half, Rubenstein and Nicholl each scored goals for a 2-1 Seven Hills victory.
Rubenstein took a centering pass from Nathan Wnek to tie the game with 28 minutes remaining. He then set up the winning goal with a pass to Nicholl, who scored from 12 yards out.
Nich Staubach's second goal of the season, off an assist by Pete Joukov, powered Sycamore to a 2-1 victory over Milford in Greater Miami Conference action at Sycamore.
Mike Cassady scored three goals, including the winner with four minutes remaining, giving Princeton a 4-3 victory over Hamilton. Cassady now has 12 goals for the season.
Madeira knocked Wyoming out of a tie for first place in the Cincinnati Hills League, defeating the host Cowboys 3-1.
Nolan Bowers scored what proved to be the winning goal three minutes into the second half, and defender Chris Tudor came up with two outstanding stops to preserve the victory.
Indian Hill, Mariemont and Madeira are now in a three-way tie for first place in the CHL with 4-1 records.
Taylor, which won only one game in 1999, also remained in the race for the CHL title with a 2-0 victory over Reading.
This was our third consecutive victory, Taylor coach Rich Wideman said. The kids are getting excited. We only have three seniors, and they have exceeded expectations.
Junior Ryan Hoffman and Jake Swadener each scored goals, and sophomore goalie Rob Andres registered his first shutout of the season.
GIRLS SOCCER: Kim Comisar, with 25 assists, is now the career leader at Lakota West. A senior midfielder, Comisar set up two goals with centering passes as Lakota West handed Middletown a 5-0 defeat.
PETERSON COMMITS: Darryl Peterson, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound for ward at Western Hills, verbally committed to Akron.
As a junior, Peterson averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Mustangs. He also was recruited by Richmond, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan and Youngstown State.
