Vets to get Grant Co. cemetery
The Associated Press
FRANKFORT Grant County will be the home of a new 100-acre state veterans cemetery, adding resting places for World War II veterans, many of whom are reaching the end of their lives.
Sites at Fort Knox and Williamstown have been selected for two more state cemeteries for veterans, Gov. Paul Patton announced Thursday.
The state plans to have four veterans' cemeteries, one in each region, to supplement the three national cemeteries that are still open.
Williamstown in Grant County would cover the northern region.
A cemetery for western Kentucky is planned near Hopkinsville. Sites in eastern Kentucky are under review.
