Promotions & new on the job




        • Richard C. Clair has been appointed president, First Transit Inc. With more than 25 years of experience, Mr. Clair is responsible for the general management of First Transit Inc., a public transportation contracting and consulting service, and First Vehicle Services, a service that manages and maintains fleets primarily for local municipalities. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass. and from Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass.

        • Becky S. Horton has been named area manager of The Union Light Heat & Power Co., a subsidiary of Cincinnati Gas & Electric. Ms. Horton will be responsible for all account management and local customer service operations within ULH&P's Northern Kentucky service territory.

        • Todd Ward has joined Ernst & Young's Cincinnati office as manager in the state and local tax practice serving Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. Mr. Ward has financial experience in both the public and private sectors. Before joining Ernst & Young, he was Gov. Bob Taft's regional representative responsible for coordinating economic development and other aspects of state government with citizens, businesses, and municipalities in a four county region. He graduated from Xavier University.

        • Kenneth L. McCurdy has joined G.J. Thelen & Associates Inc., geotechnical-testing consultants, as senior geotechnical engineer. Mr. McCurdy has more than 25 years of experience in consulting engineering services related to geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing.

        • Jane Mary Tenhover has been appointed executive vice president of the Good Samaritan Foundation. Ms. Tenhover comes to Good Samaritan from Sisters of Charity Senior Care Corp. at Mount St. Joseph College, where she served as development director. She graduated from the University of Missouri College of Journalism and received her financial planning certification from Purdue University.

        • Mark Woolsey has been named vice president, director of account services at Bridge Integrated Communications, a full service advertising agency. Mr. Woolsey has been with the company since 1988.

        • Ginny Reid has been appointed vice president of marketing at Great American Financial Resources Inc. in the voluntary benefits and long-term care division, and Jim Moffett, as vice president of operations.

        • David Bowles has been named general manager of the Cincinnati Marriott North. Mr. Bowles has over 23 years of experience in hotel management. For the past 10 years, he has worked in various hotel management positions for Winegardner & Hammons Inc. Most recently, he was general manager of the Holiday Inn Cincinnati-Airport, a Winegardner & Hammons hotel. He is president of the Greater Cincinnati Hotel-Motel Association.

        • David Byrd has been appointed vice president and general manager, North America operations business at International TechneGroup Inc.

        • Mike Welch has joined Incigna Inc. as system developer/engineer, and Kelly Schulte is responsible for the sales and marketing function at Incigna.

        • Nancy Dallas has been appointed director of cardiovascular services at TriHealth. During her 24 years with TriHealth, Ms. Dallas has served as manager of varied services within radiology, and most recently as manager of cardiac cath labs and special procedures and interim director of cardiovascular services. She will be responsible for leading and coordinating cardiac vascular services, cardiology, special procedures, cardiac rehab and vascular services.

        • Richard D. Hatton has joined Gradison McDonald Asset Management as director/portfolio manager.

        • Brenda Gumbs has been named chief operating officer at Pope & Associates, a diversity measurement, training and consulting firm. Ms. Gumbs joined the company earlier this year as vice president of human resources. She has played a key role in directing the company's strategic initiatives and daily operations. Before joining Pope & Associates, Ms. Gumbs served as corporate vice president for the Midland Co. She has provided training and consulting on issues including work-force diversity, performance management, sexual harassment, and interviewing and candidate selection for organizations like Bausch & Lomb and Time Warner Communications.

        • The following have been named coordinators for Arden Courts — Kenwood, a new Alzheimer's assisted living facility: Laurie Coyle, program services; Anthony Dunham, food service; Cheryl Shaw, administrative services; and Jack Willenbrink, building services.

        • Matt Baughan and Jeff Hinkle have been named design directors at Libby Perszyk Kathman and Emily Grimes to creative coordinator.

        • Theodore J. Lakeberg has been appointed vice president of marketing at Mercury Instruments Inc., a local manufacturer of instrumentation for the natural gas industry. Mr. Lakeberg joined the company in 1994 as a regional sales manager and later appointed assistant vice president of marketing. Prior to joining Mercury Instruments he was regional manager with the gas division of Schlumberger Industries. He graduated from Miami University.

        • Sean Kleefeld has joined Strata-G Communications as a designer/account manager; Brad McBride, Web technology specialist; and Patty McKay, Web developer.

        • Jeanne Rolfes has been named executive director of Kids Voting/Southwest Ohio. Ms. Rolfes will work with public, private and parochial schools in Southwestern Ohio to encourage and expand participation in the Kids Voting curriculum. Other duties include recruiting volunteers and fund raising. She will also oversee the move of the Kids Voting Southwest Ohio main office to 7030 Reading Road in the Swifton Commons Plaza. She most recently served as president of St. Ursula Villa. Before that, she was development director of the Springer School. She has been involved in various educational and human service organizations in the Cincinnati area for more than 25 years.

        • Sharon Montavon has been named parks/recreation programming coordinator for the Cincinnati Recreation Commission's North Fairmount Recreation Center. Ms. Montavon has been with CRC 10 years, most recently as a community center director II at the Price Hill Recreation Center.

        • Gregory A. Flannery has joined Cincinnati City Beat weekly newspaper as news editor.

        • James G. Zody has joined Environmental Quality Management Inc. as vice president for federal programs, Cincinnati office. Mr. Zody spent 26 years on active duty as a U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer, retiring with the rank of colonel.

        • Dr. Marguerite Schabell has joined the family practice of Summit Medical Group's Florence office located at 7100 Dixie Highway. Dr. Schabell attended Northern Kentucky University and University of Cincinnati Medical School. She did her residency at St. Elizabeth Family Practice Program.

        • Rebecca Luckey has joined IFS Financial Services as regional vice president, financial institutions division, a subsidiary of Western-Southern Life Assurance Co. Ms. Luckey was manager of fi nancial services for Prudential.

        • Sue Zimmerman has joined Woodmen of the World/Omaha Woodmen Life Insurance Society as new field representative.

        • William Steimer has joined Jackson, Rolfes, Spurgeon & Co. as audit manager in the accounting and consulting firm. Mr. Steimer has five years' experience in public accounting, primarily in the areas of accounting and auditing. His focus will be in the areas of construction and employee benefit plans. He graduated from the University of Kentucky.

        • Matthew D. Rowekamp and Lynne Bolger have been named assistant vice presidents at Fifth Third Bank.

        • Penina Sachs has joined Empower MediaMarketing as director of human resources and Alex King as promotions manager.

               • Robert F. Uhrig Co., certified public accountants and consultants, have acquired the sole proprietorship of Ronald F. Henke, CPA and the accounting and consulting business of Therese M. Murdock, CPA.

               • Bunnie Cobb, a certified coding specialist with United Audit Systems Inc., a health care consulting firm in Cincinnati, has won the American Health Information Management Association 2000 New Frontier Award, sponsored by Lanier Worldwide Inc.

        • Jerry D. Smart, president, chief executive officer of Southwestern Ohio Seniors' Services Inc., soon to be known as LifeSphere, received the Rock of Aging Award from the Association of Ohio Philanthropic Homes for the Aging. This award was given in recognition of Mr. Smart's leadership in the field of aging.
