Teacher pay idea attracts educators from England

The Cincinnati Enquirer

The performance-based teacher pay system being implemented in Cincinnati Public Schools received national attention Tuesday when a group of educators from England visited the district.

England's minister of school standards, government technology adviser, director of the British Council and the vice consul of the British Consulate spoke with Cincinnati schools officials about how the evaluation system will work.

Superintendent Steven Adamowski and Cincinnati Federation of Teachers President Rick Beck reviewed the teacher evaluation system and the district's school accountability plan with the group.

The visitors also met with state school board member Melanie Bates, Cincinnati school board member Sally Warner and Procter and Gamble Vice President Carol Talbot, who discussed the role of business in support of school reform.

The group then spent the afternoon at Hughes High School, to observe the way the school integrates technology into the classroom.
