The Deerfield Township Fire Rescue Department will hold an open house from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at its station, at Columbia and Kings Mills roads. The $1.1 million, 11,000-square-foot facility, completed last month, will help fire officials meet the needs of Warren County's fastest-growing community.
There is going to be a drastic improvement in response time for people in this area, said Deputy Fire Chief Nathan Bromen. Our response time will decrease from eight to 10 minutes to three or four minutes.
The new station, No. 58, has six bays, a fitness facility, mezzanine storage area, office, public meeting room, police substation, living quarters, a gear and laundry room and two sleeping rooms that can accommodate seven bunks.
Morale within the department is at an all-time high. Everybody wants to work out of that new fire station, Deputy Chief Bromen said.
The station's location will allow quick access to Interstate 71 and provide faster mutual aid to three adjoining communities, the deputy chief said.
Visitors can tour the fire station, police substation, fire safety house and community rooms. Video fire footage, blueprints of the rescue engine and school, and apparatus displays also will be shown.
