By Steve Kemme
The Cincinnati Enquirer
HAMILTON A 17-year-old boy accused of throwing a large chunk of concrete through a car windshield and injuring the driver was convicted Friday in Butler County Juvenile Court.
Judge David Niehaus found the boy guilty of felonious assault and criminal damaging. He sent the boy back to the juvenile detention center until his Oct. 19 sentencing.
The Enquirer is not naming the boy because he is a juvenile.
On July 27, John Gentile was driving north on Kenworth Avenue near Franklin Street in Hamilton when a piece of concrete smashed through his windshield and struck him in the head.
Mr. Gentile, 52, of Hamilton, underwent five hours of surgery to repair a tear in the lining of his brain and to reconstruct his forehead and sinus passages.
He is still under medical treatment.
Hamilton police said the 17-year-old confessed to the crime after about three hours of questioning.
