HAMILTON After arguing with co-worker Darlene Adams at a Fairfield business, Sophal Prom went home and returned with a loaded gun, Butler County Prosecutor Dan Gattermeyer said Friday.
Ms. Prom emptied her gun at Ms. Adams, reloaded it, emptied it again, reloaded it and fired more shots, he said.
A person decided to handle her anger by getting a gun and shooting somebody, Mr. Gattermeyer said. We believe it was a purposeful killing.
Sophal Prom was arraigned Friday in Butler County Common Pleas Court on a charge of aggravated murder.

A Butler County grand jury indicted Ms. Prom Friday on a charge of aggravated murder. Police said Ms. Adams, 42, of Newport, was shot more than 10 times. The shooting occurred on Sept. 28 at Prestige Display & Packaging.
If convicted, Sophal Prom would receive a sentence of 20 years to life in prison with an additional mandatory three years for using a gun.
Ms. Prom, a small, thin, 34-year-old Fairfield resident, was arraigned Friday afternoon before Common Pleas Judge Keith Spaeth.
In handcuffs and leg shackles, she held her indictment papers in her hands as she stood before the judge with her attorney, Brian Goodyear.
Mr. Goodyear entered a not-guilty plea for her. Judge Spaeth ordered her to continue to be held at the Butler County Jail without bond.
He said that jail authorities should closely monitor Ms. Prom as a suicide risk. Ms. Prom has a history of depression.
A pretrial hearing will be held next Friday before Judge H.J. Bressler.
Ms. Prom is a naturalized U.S. citizen who emigrated from Cambodia more than 15 years ago.
Mr. Gattermeyer said he didn't know what Ms. Prom and Ms. Adams argued about.
Words were exchanged, mostly on Prom's part, he said.
Death-penalty specifications did not fit this case, Mr. Gattermeyer said.
