Anderson 44, Harrison 22
By Carey Hoffman

A dream performance by Anderson's new wide-open offense gave the Redskins a victory they had to have in surprisingly easy fashion Friday night.
Anderson, the No.8 team in the Enquirer's Division I poll, rolled past No.10 Harrison 44-22 at Anderson. Both teams came into the game with 5-1 records, 3-1 in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference's Buckeye Division.
Anderson's no-huddle offense features the quarterback playing in what amounts to almost a single-T formation. Friday, that offense allowed senior quarterback Kenny Riddell to complete 20 of 25 passes for 271 yards and a touchdown, and add 15 carries for 69 yards and two TDs on the ground.
At one point, Riddell had completed 18 of 20 passes.
We were clicking tonight, said Riddell, who called it Anderson's best offensive performance of the year. We spread them out, and it's hard to guard all those guys.
Riddell completed passes to seven different receivers. Running back Kenny Rod had 20 carries for 103 yards and three TDs.
Both teams came into the game averaging almost 400 yards a game on offense, but on this night, only Anderson got it in high gear.
Anderson built a 32-6 halftime lead. Riddell hit on 14 of 16 first-half passes for 186 yards, while Anderson's defense limited Harrison's Charlie Key to only 62 yards rushing, 40 of which came on one run late in the half.
Anderson led 7-0 after the first quarter. The Redskins had a huge advantage in field position all half, a fact made apparent on their first two scoring drives of the second quarter.
Anderson had to go only 51 yards before Riddell scored on a 1-yard quarterback sneak to boost the lead to 14-0 in a drive that lasted only 60 seconds. A short punt and 22-yard return by J.D. Collar gave Anderson the ball on the Harrison 26 less than a minute later and six plays later, Rod scored his second TD of the half. A two-point conversion pass from Riddell to Matt Mineer put Anderson up 22-0.
On its next possession, Harrison finally earned its first first-down of the half, getting the Wildcats on the board when Matt Bachman scored on a 15-yard TD run. A running attempt at a two-point conversion by Key was stopped, leaving the score 22-6.
Anderson scored two more times in the final 1:15 of the half. Rod scored on a 1-yard run and, on the final play of the half, kicker Josh Haukebo hit a 40-yard field goal.
Anderson had 442 yards of offense in the game.
The game was crucial to both team's playoff hopes. Harrison ranked fifth in the region and Anderson sixth in this week's Division I, Re gion 4 computer rankings.
Our backs were against the wall, Anderson coach Vince Suriano said. We got beat (by Glen Este) last week, we dropped in everybody's polls and we were playing a Division I team with five wins. We had to have this and we really stepped up to the plate.
