Williamsburg's Bainum threatens state rushing record
By Dave Schutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer
With three games left, Williamsburg's Jason Bainum has a chance to break the single-season Ohio rushing record of 2,856 yards set by Troy's Ryan Brewer in 1998.
He would need to average 270 yards per game, but that's not as hard as it sounds for Bainum, who is averaging 292 yards this season.
Bainum turned in the best individual effort of the weekend, rushing for 475 yards on 49 carries in the 49-35 victory over Western Brown. It was the fourth highest single-game rushing total in state history.
He was awesome, Williamsburg coach Ken Osborne said. Jason had a 30-yard touchdown run called back along with several others because of penalties.
Bainum also completed 3-of-4 passes for 44 yards.
Through seven games, Bainum has rushed for 2,047 yards and completed 33-of-52 passes for 541 yards.
He doesn't know what the word "quit' means and never wants to come out of the game, Osborne said.
Williamsburg's remaining opponents are Clermont Northeastern, Hillcrest and New Richmond.
