New sign-up method for magnet schools
'Super Saturday' a thing of the past
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Cincinnati's magnet schools launched a new enrollment process Tuesday at Fairview German Language School.
Parents no longer face Super Saturday registration, when parents scrambled to central locations to sign their children up on a first-come, first-served basis.
Parents now can go to the school of their choice and register at the building.
Registration dates:
Oct. 16-20: Enrollment of students who will receive automatic admission, such as those in elementary schools that feed to a magnet high school.
Oct. 23-Nov. 3: Enrollment of siblings and Schiel Primary School for Arts En richment students.
Nov. 13: Enrollment at all other magnet schools.
Feb. 1: Schools can enroll students who live outside their boundaries.
Students will be awarded space in the programs on a first-come, first-served basis.
The district offers 12 magnet programs in 28 schools. More than 14,000 students attend magnet schools.
Parents and students who want to learn more about the 12 magnet programs can attend a magnet school fair 5:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Education Center, 2651 Burnet Ave., Corryville.
School officials will explain the different programs, such as Paideia and Montessori teaching methods, and special program focuses like foreign languages and fundamental academics.
