Foundation bids farewell to director
MIDDLETOWN A public open house will be held in honor of retiring Middletown Community Foundation Executive Director Norman Hayes from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. today.
It will be at the Middletown Community Foundation office in the Manchester Inn, 36 Donham Plaza. The public can meet with Mr. Hayes and his wife, Pat. Refreshments will be served.
The foundation's board of trustees has established a scholarship in the name of the couple in recognition of their commitment to education.
The scholarship will be available to a graduating senior from either Middletown or Monroe high school in the class of 2001 who is the first member of his or her family to attend college.
