A Mount Washington woman faces a possible life sentence if she is convicted of killing a cancer patient who had less than six months to live.
Stacey Hill, 18, was indicted Thursday on a murder charge that carries a maximum sentence of 15 years to life in prison.
Hamilton County prosecutors say Ms. Hill stabbed to death Bruce Reed on Oct. 2 as he spoke on the phone with one of his daughters. Mr. Reed, 50, had recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer and was attempting to re-establish a relationship with his children.
While talking on the phone, prosecutors say, one of the daughters heard someone shout Today's the day you're going to die.
Moments later, the phone went dead.
Prosecutors said Mr. Reed was stabbed nine times.
Police have said Ms. Hill told them she was attacked and injured by Mr. Reed on the night of the stabbing.
But prosecutors said Ms. Hill did not mention that she had been in a serious car accident and a fight with another person just one night earlier.
