Wedding, Dehart finish second in state

        Wilmington's Gabby Wedding fell short in her bid to become the medalist in two straight state meets when she lost the second hole of a playoff to Dublin Coffman's Romi Irons in the girls Ohio Division I girls golf championship Saturday at Columbus.

        Wedding shot a 76 and Irons had a 74 Saturday on Ohio State University's Gray Course, giving each a two-round total of 149 at the end of regulation.

        Dublin Coffman won the team title with a 630.

        Lakota West was the Cincinnati area's top team, finishing fourth with a 693. St. Ursula was sixth at 706, and Mount Notre Dame was seventh at 721.

        Middletown's Carling Coffing shot a 78 Saturday, finishing in a three-way tie for ninth at 160.

        In boys Division II, Franklin's Jake Dehart finished in a three- way tie for second place with a two-round total of 155, one shot behind Alan Schlessman of Sandusky Perkins.

        Dehart shot a 76 in Saturday's second round on Ohio State's Scarlet Course to tie Steve Lohmeyer of Dayton Oakwood and Tim Skufca of Char don NDCL in the final standings.

        Franklin was ninth in the team standings with a two-round score of 696, 40 strokes behind state champion Chardon's 656.
